Study material written by a working crane operator
On The Hook Crane Prep publishes independent study material for the NCCCO Mobile Crane Operator written examinations. Every guide is developed by a certified operator with fifteen years in the seat, and is organized around the content the Core and specialty exams actually test.
The credentials behind the material
I have been operating mobile cranes for fifteen years. I am NCCCO certified on Telescopic Boom, both small and large, and I have since added Lattice Boom. I have sat for the Core exam, the specialty exams, and the practical more than once, across more than one crane type.
Why this material exists
When I began studying for my own certifications, most of what I found read as though it had been written by someone checking a box rather than by someone who understood why the material mattered. Load charts were explained without field context. Rigging concepts technically covered the topic but never addressed why it matters when you are the one making the pick.
So I built the guide I wish I had been handed: written the way I would explain it to an operator I was training, not the way a textbook explains it.
An independent resource
On The Hook Crane Prep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by NCCCO, and this is not official examination material. What it is: real operator knowledge, organized around the content areas the Core and specialty exams cover, written by someone who has done the job for fifteen years and is still doing it.
If it helps you walk into that testing center better prepared, it has done its job.
